James Guercio of Rubin and Rosen was interviewed by WCBS Newsroom 880 for a story on what homeowners should do if a tree falls on their house during a storm.
“The tree itself is not an insurance claim,” Mr. Guercio said. “The wind storm is what the covered insurance claim is. The wind storm causes the tree to come down, whether it’s your neighbor’s tree, the village’s tree, or a tree on the sidewalk.”
Mr. Guercio also recommends removing the tree from your home before the insurance company comes to visit. “In the insurance policies, it does say that you are required as a homeowner to do your best to prevent from further damages,” he said.
